“What if every woman, right now, all over the world, were to open the door to the love and beauty already in their lives? What if, right now, they stopped following the carrot of Tomorrow’s Great Promise?” ~ Robin Rice
How many times do we not allow ourselves to be happy, beautiful, radiant and alive!?! I know, I know, we can rest and be happy when our thighs are smaller, when we lose that 10 lbs, when we get out of debt, when we buy that car, house, whatever… we will be happy when we find “the one”, when “the one” treats us differently, when we finally get that degree, when the kids are out of school, when our house is clean….
I think you get the point. I find that a lot of women (inlcuding myself on occasion) have a story, like we are entitled to be unhappy!! And, if we were totally happy with our bodies, with our life, that something would be very wrong and not normal. So, we continue to not look at ourselves with love and beauty!! As, if somehow hating our bodies is going to make them be like “I know you hate me so much but I would love to give you the body of a supermodel!”
It doesn’t quite work like that!! We must see our beauty and love NOW!
If I am honest I can always find something in me that needs fixing, or to be unhappy about! Whether it be my legs, a zit or two on my face, not enough of this, that and the other, too much of this, that and the other! I look at a magazine and see this beautiful stunning women and I think ooh how I would be happy if looked like her!! There’s always something right?
So, again what would it look like if right now we had EVERYTHING that we ever needed to be HAPPY and we simply made the declaration that “I am happy!” Try it out and see how it feels!! There is nothing more sexier and captivating than a happy women!
I am reading this awesome book “Venus for a Day!” And would love to share some really great quotes by Robin that really inspired me thus far in the book!
“She begins to realize that even her failures are acceptable. Soon enough, she will realize that she herself is not a failure even when failing, so long as she is doing whatever her bliss calls her to do.”
“It is powerful and exhilarating to be generally happy, fundamentally happy, but then to allow yourself your moments of unhappiness without apology.”
“Do you have any idea the kind of power a woman has when she says no to that which she does not want to contribute to? The collapse of society is in her hands. And if you think her bucking the system is not going to upset all the other women, think again. It is still all the rage to laugh at women who are bold, bright, big and daring. The system is not designed for it. Laughing at a woman has always been one of the quickest ways to quiet her. Then, if that does not work, they will make up the kind of stories no woman can live down.”
WOW! I am totally diggin this book and I choose to be happy! How about you?
Dare to be happy!!!
